As of 11:59pm on Thursday 21 October 2021, the covid 19 restrictions in Victoria will be eased. From Friday 22 October 2021, small-scale building and construction sites will allow workers to attend both indoor and outdoor jobs at occupied premises. Density limits still apply for a maximum of five workers plus a supervisor. Workers must have received their first dose of the covid vaccine and be wearing masks.
Upon reaching the 80% double dose rate in Victoria, work site caps on the number of workers and movement between sites will be removed, if those workers are fully vaccinated.
Builders who have faced delays as a result of recent lockdown restrictions, as well as the two-week shutdown to the construction industry, should submit an Extension of Time notice. This allows extra time to complete building projects if necessary, caused by delays beyond the builder’s reasonable control.
For more information on dealing with Extension of Time and Cost Escalation caused by COVID-19 read our previous article here.
